ODI (odi.org) is a leading global affairs think tank. We work to inspire people to act on injustice and inequality. Through research, convening and influencing, we generate ideas that matter for people and planet.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial and strategic individual to join ODI as Director of Advisory Services. This is an exciting opportunity to develop, shape and lead ODI’s newly established consulting arm (ODI Global Advisory) providing advisory, convening, policy and research products to clients in, and with an interest in, the geographies where we work.

The Director of Advisory Services will grow and manage ODI’s advisory services and expand into new markets, broadening ODI’s roster of partners and contractors. This role will also be responsible for ODI’s Fellowship Scheme.

The successful candidate will have:

· Substantial experience of working in a for-profit consulting, public policy, and/or advisory organisation in a senior capacity, including influencing policy in national governments, multilateral and bilateral agencies, NGOs and the private sector

· Substantial work experience with multiple partners in global geographies

· Considerable experience of leading and developing business plans and operating procedures

· Proven experience of turning strategy into action

· Client focused orientation and established networks as well as existing relationships with potential funding agencies

· Proven ability to fundraise, build and manage programmes of work

  • A clear commitment to innovation and finding new ways to effectively deliver to new clients.
  • Ability to work with researchers, policymakers and advisors who are not motivated solely by profit maximisation objectives
  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding in at least one of ODI’s core areas of expertise
  • Educated to degree level
